Administrative Assistant Position, 7-30-18 Fake Job Offer Scam

The following is a repeat of the Fake job offer scam. It appears the scammer has picked up a few new tricks this time around. This time the scammer will address the email directly to individual and send it directly to the victim, as opposed to mass sending it out to multiple students in one email. The scammer has also picked a new name that we haven’t seen been used before. Other than those changes, the scam seems exactly the same.

The scammer is offering an unrealistic job offer without an interview. Some signs that this is a scam are, the non VCU address (the scammer attempted to change the name to appear as Virginia Commonwealth University), the unrealistic job opportunity without an interview, and if you have been reading previous Job offer scams, it looks almost exactly the same.

If you have received this email please delete it.

Dear Victim ,

My name is Dr. Barbetta Edwards and I work as a clinical counselor for the department of Disability Resources and Educational Services (DRES).
A large percentage of the students served by the mental health unit have psychiatric disabilities or co-morbid psychiatric disabilities and need mental health support to be successful at the university. In addition, many University of students with academic difficulties and no prior diagnosis are seen and assessed through the academic screening and assessment process.

You have received this email to be considered for an offer from the University Office for Students with Disabilities to work with me. This is an at-will position that reports directly to me should you decide to accept the offer.

This is a very simple employment and in depth details of the position will be sent to you if you are interested in this position.
This employment only takes an hour a day and 3 times a week for $620 .00 weekly.
I am unable to meetup for an interview because I am currently away and helping the disabled students in Canada.

You will be paid in advance for all tasks and purchased to be done on my behalf and some of my personal letters and mails will be forwarded to your residence or nearby post office for you to pick up at your convenience. Upon my arrival we will discuss the possibility of making this a long-term employment if I am impressed with your services while I am away. My arrival is scheduled for the last week of August, 2018.

To be considered for this position, reply with the details below:

Full name,
