Re: Your Application, Scam (5-31-18)

The following is a job offer scam. It is very similar in verbiage to several other phishing emails we have seen.

To spot a scam like this, think is it too good to be true? Do you know the person offering the job? No one will offer a job without an interview. The various grammar issues are dead giveaways that this is a scam. If you have been reading the blog you will also see that the format of the scam email are almost exactly the same with a slight change in email address and employer name. All of these are signs of a scam. Note that while the email appears to be from VCU it does not have a footer, the email address is spoofed.

If you have received this email please delete it.

*****EMPLOYMENT*****, Scam (6-24-18)

The following is a job offer scam. This one is very similar to the previous ones we’ve seen before. They are still using the same doctor name in this scam. The scam contains a job offer in which the scammer hopes the victim will reply and send over personal information. This will allow the scammer to reek havoc on the victim’s life, opening credit cards and continuing to send phishing emails to the victim.

Some signs that this is a scam are the non- business email used. The address that the scammer wants you to email back is also not a business email. If you have been reading the blog the email below will seem familiar.

If you have received this email please delete it.
